My involvement with classic vehicles started with a job at a sports and race car restoration company. One of the most renowned in it's field worldwide. First training as an engine builder the moving onto gearboxes and differential units.

Gradually I moved into electrical work covering standard rewire to bespoke systems for race cars.

A change of direction landed me in the body shop where I trained in the art of old school panel beating and restoration techniques. Shrinking and stretching panels to fit was the norm! The types of vehicles worked on were Jaguar XK 140 & 150's, TR4's, Ford GT40's and many kit based race cars.

Redundancy moved me into engineering, welding and fabrication where I again trained as a MIG, TIG, and arc welder on materials such as steel, stainless steel and aluminium. 90% of which had to be x-rayed and pressure tested for use in the food industry, power stations, mining and submarines. At the same time picking up experience on manual machining centres, lathes, millers and horizontal boring machines.

Reichspeed Aircooled is the culmination of all these skills and a lot of personal passion for aircooled VW's brought together to bring you the best in quality and service.
